Folding Treadmill Review 2026: The Top Picks for Home Use in Switzerland
Of the five foldable treadmills tested, the Tunturi T80 Signature stands out the most. With 5.5 PS, a running surface measuring 153 × 55 cm, a weight capacity of up to 150 kg, and a top speed of 22 km/h, it is the only model in the test that even ambitious runners can use for long-term training. The best all-around treadmill for home use is the Tunturi T60 Signature: 5 PS, a 140 × 50 cm running surface, and a top speed of 20 km/h—all at a significantly lower price. If you want the most treadmill for your money, go for the Reebok 520T, starting at CHF 1399. The quietest and smartest device in the test is the Inspire Centr RUNR‑S, which features a brushless 3 PS motor and a 10-inch touchscreen. For small spaces, the adidas Ultra T‑1, starting at CHF 899, remains our top recommendation: It folds down to a height of 31 cm, making it the only model in the test that fits under a bed.

A Comparison of Folding Treadmill Models
Here’s how we tested it
The testing took place at the isports showroom in Lupfig, Aargau, over a period of two weeks. Each of the five foldable treadmills was used for at least 2 hours, tested by the same two test subjects in the same room, on the same flooring, and at the same room temperature. This allows for a direct comparison of smoothness and cushioning.
We tested each model at three intensity levels: walking at 5 km/h, light jogging at 9 km/h, and sprints at the machine’s maximum speed. In addition, we tested each treadmill at 0%, 6%, and maximum incline.
We evaluated the products based on ten criteria: design and package contents, build quality and stability, running surface and cushioning, motor and quiet operation, display and controls, features and app connectivity, safety, folding mechanism and space requirements, and value for money. Each criterion is scored on a scale of 0 to 10; the final grade is the weighted average. All devices are from the regular product line and were not provided by the manufacturer.
1st Place: Tunturi T80 Signature – Test Winner
At a Glance
The Tunturi T80 Signature is by far the most powerful folding treadmill in the test. With a top speed of 22 km/h, a 15% electric climbing ability, and a 5.5 PS motor, it clearly goes beyond the scope of home use. The 153 × 55 cm running surface, combined with the T‑Flex Comfort Plus cushioning system, allows for a natural stride length even during intense running workouts. With a weight capacity of up to 150 kg, 47 workout programs, and optional rehabilitation rails, it is suitable for ambitious runners as well as for use in physical therapy and medical practices.

Evaluation Based on Criteria
It took the two of us to set up the T80; we wouldn’t have been able to handle the 115 kg on our own. While riding, we reached the top speed of 22 km/h and didn’t notice any wobbling, which is consistent with the ten-year frame warranty. Even at higher speeds, we didn’t have to shorten our stride on the 153 × 55 cm track, and the zone-specific T‑Flex Comfort Plus cushioning absorbs impact more softly in the front than in the back. Every time we changed speed, we expected the RPM to drop, but the 5.5 PS engine doesn’t cause that to happen.
We were able to navigate the 47 programs without a manual; the 10-inch display is self-explanatory. We also tested the connectivity with Tunturi Routes, Zwift, Kinomap, and AnyRun, plus it features a USB port and the option to retrofit rehab rails. The emergency stop button, 150 kg weight capacity, and wide footrests ensured that we never found ourselves in an unsafe situation, even when stepping onto the edge of the conveyor belt. The price is significantly higher than that of the other models in the test, but based on our experience during training sessions, we believe it is justified given the intensive use.

- Strengths
- The only model in the test group with true running quality: up to 22 km/h without frame wobble, even with 90-kg runners

- 150 kg weight capacity and a 10-year frame warranty, plus the option to retrofit Reha-Rails for physical therapy use
- Weaknesses
- When folded, it is 156.5 cm high and 92.5 cm wide: it doesn’t take up any space—it just stands there
- Weighing 115 kg, it cannot be moved by one person alone; moving it requires two people
- Highest price in the test
Recommended for
Regular, serious runners who also want to do speed training and intervals at home. It is also suitable for use in physical therapy and medical practices, since the Reha-Rails can be mounted.
Not suitable for
People who want a compact, space-saving treadmill.

Evaluation Based on Criteria
The T60 is the model that stood out the least during testing, and I mean that as a compliment. The 5‑PS motor did not make any audible noise at any speed setting, not even when shifting from 5 to 14 km/h under load. For a device in this price range, that’s the most striking feature: you simply don’t notice the motor.
The 18-mm barrel is the second difference compared to the less expensive models. The impact is noticeably cushioned without making the deck feel spongy. For runners with knee or foot problems, this is the most important reason to buy in this price range.
The Soft-Drop system really shines when folding: The footprint is reduced from 177 to 102 cm in length, and the deck lowers slowly and smoothly—it doesn’t just fall. At 87 kg, the T60 is still heavy, but thanks to its transport casters, it can be moved by one person on smooth floors.
The limits are set by the tread. 140 × 50 cm is more than enough for people up to about 180 cm; above that height, stride length is unconsciously shortened when running. And while the LCD display is functional, it’s clearly a generation behind the Inspire’s touchscreen in terms of appearance. If multimedia is important to you, the T60 isn’t the right choice—here, you work out using the tablet in its mount.
- Assembly & Package Contents: 7/10 – Assembly required, treadmill weighs 82.5 kg70%
- Build Quality & Stability: 4/10 – Good build quality and solid stability for an entry-level home device50%
- Tread & Cushioning: 7/10 – Tread thickness: 18 mm, cushioning: yes, built-in T‑Flex Comfort Plus cushioning70%
- Motor & Smoothness: 5/10 – DC motor50%
- Display & Controls: 8/10 – LCD display with simple controls80%
- Features: 8/10 – Tunturi Routes, AnyRun, Kinomap, and Zwift80%
- Safety: 8/10 – with an emergency stop button80%
- Value for money: 8/10 – Good value for money and quality80%
- Strengths
- The 5‑PS engine runs smoothly at any speed; there are no drops in RPM when changing speed
- 18 mm running deck with T‑Flex Comfort Plus, noticeably easier on the joints than the less expensive models in the test
- The Soft-Drop folding mechanism reduces the footprint from 177 to 102 cm in length
- Weaknesses
- A 140 × 50 cm running surface is a bit tight for people who are approximately 180 cm or taller when running at a faster pace
- An LCD display without touchscreen or multimedia features; training without your own tablet isn’t very varied
- 87 kg and assembly required: Setting it up on your own is nearly impossible; an assembly service is practically a must
Recommended for
Beginners and recreational runners who want to take their fitness to the next level and don’t want to sacrifice a powerful motor despite limited space.
Not suitable for
Tall people over approximately 185 cm and ambitious athletes who do speed training.
3rd Place: Reebok 520T – Best Value for the Money
At a Glance
The Reebok 520T is the model that offers the most treadmill for the money. For CHF1399, you get speeds from 1 to 20 km/h, 20 motorized incline levels, a running surface measuring 140 × 52 cm, and a brushless 2.5‑PS motor. It is designed for beginners and recreational runners who are looking for a versatile home treadmill without the premium price tag.

Test Results in Detail
On paper, the 520T looks like a machine in the 2,000-franc class: 20 km/h, 20 incline levels, 140 × 52 cm running surface, 136 kg weight capacity. The test reveals where Reebok justifies its price and where it doesn’t.
No corners were cut on the motor: The brushless motor runs noticeably quieter than a conventional DC motor of the same power and requires less maintenance because there are no carbon brushes to wear out. The 20 incline levels are also a real advantage because they offer finer adjustments than the 12 levels found on less expensive competing models. Anyone who does hill intervals will notice the difference.
Cost-cutting measures were taken in two areas. First, the display: The LED console shows all relevant readings, but has a simple design and no touchscreen. Second, regarding engine reserve. 2.5 PS is more than enough for walking and jogging, but the stated 20 km/h is a top speed, not a sustained speed. For a 90-kg runner running at a high pace for an extended period, the motor works significantly harder than the T60’s 5‑PS drive. For competitive runners who train for long periods every day, this is the key limitation.
The folding mechanism features a soft-drop function and reduces the footprint from 173.5 to 91 cm in length. However, the device stands 159 cm tall. As with all the real treadmills in this test, it doesn’t disappear—it just takes up less space.
- Setup & Package Contents: 8/10 – Assembly required, 89 kg, complete set included80%
- Build Quality & Stability: 7/10 – solid for its price range, tends to wobble slightly at high speeds70%
- Running Surface & Cushioning: 7/10 – 140 × 52 cm, 4‑layer cushioning system70%
- Motor & Smoothness: 7/10 – 2.5 PS brushless, runs smoothly, but has limited power reserve70%
- Display & Controls: 6/10 – LED console showing all metrics, no touchscreen60%
- Features: 7/10 – 24 + 3 programs, Zwift, Kinomap, Reebok Console app, tablet holder70%
- Safety: 8/10 – Emergency stop button, 136 kg weight capacity, hand pulse sensor, and chest strap option80%
- Value for money: 10/10 – best feature set per franc in the test100%
- Strengths
- Best value for the money in the test: 20 km/h, 20 resistance levels, and a 136 kg weight capacity
- Brushless motors run more quietly than comparable DC motors and do not wear out due to carbon brushes
- 20 finely graduated resistance levels, offering more precise control than the 12 levels offered by less expensive competitors
- Weaknesses
- 2.5 PS is barely enough for the specified 20 km/h; under continuous load with a heavy rotor, the motor makes an audible noise
- A pure LED console without a touchscreen; compared to the Inspire, the user interface looks a generation older
- Weighs 89 kg and is 159 cm tall when folded; not suitable for small spaces
Recommended for
Beginners and more ambitious recreational runners who are looking for a versatile home treadmill with a wide range of features and are willing to compromise on the display.
Not suitable for
Professional or commercial continuous use, such as in fitness centers, as well as for high training volumes with multiple users daily.

Test Results in Detail
The Inspire is the quietest device in the test group—by a wide margin. This is thanks to the brushless 3‑PS motor, which is barely audible even when climbing a steep incline. International testers have reached the same conclusion: The editorial team at Garage Gym Reviews describes the powertrain as one of the quietest they’ve ever driven. For rental apartments and townhouses, the Inspire is therefore the most obvious choice in the test.
The second advantage is its ease of use. The 10-inch touchscreen is the only true multimedia display in the test group; the 25 programs are directly accessible via the interface and aren’t hidden behind key combinations. The setup is also exemplary: The device comes largely pre-assembled and is ready for use without any tools.
When it comes to shock absorption, the device falls short of its marketing claims. Despite the Cloud Cushion and Natural Stride Technology, independent testers rated the ergonomics only 3 out of 5 points, noting that the deck doesn’t provide the same level of cushioning as higher-priced models. We arrive at the same conclusion when comparing it to the 18-mm deck of the Tunturi T60.
Two other things stand out in everyday life. The maximum speed is 16 km/h, which is lower than that of all other models in the test except for the adidas: That’s not enough for tempo runs under 4 min/km. And the cup holders are positioned so far forward that they become practically out of reach on steep inclines—a detail that international testers have also criticized. Taller passengers also report that the handrails are too low on steep inclines.
- Setup & Package Contents: 8/10 – no tools required, ready to use in just a few minutes80%
- Workmanship & Stability: 7/10 – feels sturdy, but the handles are positioned too low for taller people70%
- Running Surface & Cushioning: 6/10 – 140 × 51 cm is sufficient; cushioning is below the level of the Tunturi models60%
- Motor & Smoothness: 8/10 – 3 PS brushless, runs very smoothly80%
- Display & Usability: 9/10 – 10-inch touchscreen, best user interface among the devices tested90%
- Features: 9/10 – 25 programs, Centr app, Bluetooth, multimedia90%
- Safety: 7/10 – Emergency stop switch, 136 kg weight capacity70%
- Value for the money: 8/10 – The higher price compared to the Reebok is mainly due to the display and quiet operation80%
- Strengths
- The brushless 3‑PS motor remains quiet even on a 12% incline
- The only true multimedia display in the test: a 10-inch touchscreen with 25 programs that can be selected directly
- Tool-free assembly; delivered largely pre-assembled and ready for use in minutes
- Weaknesses
- The suspension falls short of expectations; independent testers give the ergonomics only 3 out of 5 points
- At 16 km/h, it has the second-lowest top speed in the test; not fast enough for pace runs under 4 min/km
- Cup holders are practically out of reach on steep inclines; handholds are too low for tall people
Recommended for
Challenging workouts you can do at home, for both beginners and regular runners.
Not suitable for
Very fast sprint workouts, very long training sessions, and users who train for several hours a day.

Test Results in Detail
The Ultra T‑1 clearly wins one category in the test: putting things away. When folded, it measures only 31 cm in height. That is the key difference from all the other models in the test, which, when folded, stand between 148 and 159 cm tall. The adidas tucks away neatly under the bed or behind the sofa, making it the only piece of equipment in the test that frees up the living room again after a workout.
The second advantage is the design. It comes ready to use; just unpack it, unfold it, and it works. No screws, no assembly service, no second person.
An ideal entry-level model with a built-in cushioning system, suitable for both casual and brisk jogging. A high-quality treadmill at a low price.
However, the limits are clear and should be understood before making a purchase. The running surface measures 120 × 46 cm, making it by far the smallest in the test—one-third narrower than that of the test winner. Anyone who is taller than 180 cm or has a wide stride will come too close to the rear edge of the deck. With a top speed of 15 km/h and 2 PS, it’s designed for walking and light jogging, not for speed training. And the 120-kg weight limit is the lowest among the models tested.

- Safety: 7/10 – Emergency stop switch, 136 kg weight capacity70%
- Value for the money: 7/10 – Good value for the money70%
- Strengths
- When folded, it’s only 31 cm tall—the only device in the test that fits flat under a bed
- No assembly required: just unpack, unfold, and start walking—no assembly service or second person needed
- The most affordable option in the test including app connectivity to adidas Console+, Zwift, and Kinomap
- Weaknesses
- Smallest running surface in the test (120 × 46 cm); feels a bit cramped for people 180 cm or taller
- 2 PS and 15 km/h: not suitable for serious runners or speed training
- Lowest weight limit in the test was 120 kg; Bluetooth is sometimes only available as an option
Recommended for
Beginners who are looking for a space-saving treadmill for light workouts and want to put it away after their workout.
Not suitable for
Tall people over about 180 cm and ambitious runners.

Frequently Asked Questions About Foldable Treadmills
Which foldable treadmill is the 2026 test winner?
The Tunturi T80 Signature, priced at CHF 2799, came out on top in the test. It is the only model in the test to offer 5.5 PS of motor power, a 153 × 55 cm running surface, a top speed of 22 km/h, and a weight capacity of up to 150 kg. This makes it the only foldable treadmill in the comparison on which even ambitious runners can do sustained speed training.
Which foldable treadmill is best for home use?
For walking and light jogging, the adidas Ultra T‑1 is available starting at CHF 899. If you jog regularly, the Tunturi T60 Signature, priced at CHF 1,899, is a better choice because its 5‑PS motor and 18-mm running deck are designed to withstand continuous use. When it comes to serious running training, there’s no better choice than the Tunturi T80 Signature.
How much space does a foldable treadmill take up?
When unfolded, the models in the test measure between 151 and 193 cm in length and between 75 and 93 cm in width. When folded, their length is reduced to between 91 and 137 cm, but their height increases to between 149 and 159 cm. The exception is the adidas Ultra T‑1: It folds flat to a height of 31 cm and fits under a bed. Also allow for a 50-cm safety clearance to the rear.
Which foldable treadmill that supports up to 150 kg would you recommend?
Only the Tunturi T80 Signature, priced at CHF 2799, achieved a weight capacity of 150 kg in testing. The frame is covered by a 10-year warranty, and the machine’s weight of 115 kg ensures stability even for heavier runners. The Reebok 520T and Inspire Centr RUNR‑S weigh 136 kg, while the adidas Ultra T‑1 weighs 120 kg.
Are foldable treadmills just as sturdy as stationary models?
Not automatically. The folding mechanism itself is not a major factor in any of the test models; the device’s weight is the decisive factor. Even at 22 km/h, the Tunturi T80 remained completely stable with a load of 115 kg. Lighter devices weighing around 90 kg tend to sway slightly at high speeds. As a rule of thumb: If you weigh less than 80 kg, you’ll really feel it when running at a brisk pace.
How much does a good foldable treadmill cost in Switzerland?
Sturdy foldable models for walking and light jogging start at CHF 899. For a device that can withstand regular running workouts, you should expect to pay between CHF 1,400 and 1,900. Premium models with a large running surface and high load capacity start at CHF 2,800.
