adidas Fitness® from sports shoes to home training
adidas fitness equipment today: smart and connected
adidas focuses on sports shoes and apparel. The fitness equipment is developed by adidas Training Hardware. At the heart of it is the adidas Console+ app. Treadmills, bikes and ellipticals connect to a tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth, record your training data and can be used with platforms such as Zwift and Kinomap. The range extends from the foldable entry-level treadmill to sprinter bikes and the cable-pulley strength station. You can find all current models in our shop under adidas fitness equipment.
The history of adidas
adidas Fitness stands for the combination of sporting tradition and modern home training. What began in 1924 in a small workshop in Herzogenaurach, Franconia, is today one of the best-known sports brands in the world. The three stripes stand for performance, innovation and design, and these are exactly the values that shape adidas fitness equipment for the home. On this page you will learn how a shoemaker's workshop became a global corporation, what adidas Performance stands for and how adidas differs from other fitness brands.
2004 to today: Impossible is Nothing
In 2004, adidas launched the "Impossible is Nothing" campaign, which remains associated with the brand to this day. In 2006, adidas acquired the sporting goods manufacturer Reebok, and in 2021 the group initiated its sale. The headquarters is still in Herzogenaurach today. You can find the full chronicle in the official adidas company history. Discover adidas equipment on isports.ch.
The Trefoil logo
For the Olympic Games in Munich, adidas introduces the Trefoil. The logo stands for performance and becomes the symbol of the brand.
1954: The Miracle of Bern
The 1954 FIFA World Cup takes place in Switzerland. In the final at Bern's Wankdorf Stadium, Germany beats the favourites, Hungary. Part of the success is credited to adidas boots with screw-in studs, which could be adapted to the rain-soaked pitch. The "Miracle of Bern" makes adidas known internationally. 1948 und 1949: The brothers split and adidas is founded
In 1948 the brothers go their separate ways. On the other side of the river Aurach, Rudolf Dassler founds the company that later becomes known as Puma. On 18 August 1949 Adi Dassler registers the "Adolf Dassler adidas Sportschuhfabrik". The name combines "Adi" and "Das". In the same year he has the three stripes registered as a trademark. You can read more about the founder in the portrait of Adolf Dassler.
1928 bis 1936: Olympic success
At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam, Los Angeles and Berlin, athletes wearing Dassler shoes win gold medals. The best known of them is Jesse Owens, who wins four gold medals in Berlin in 1936.
1924: The Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik
Adolf "Adi" Dassler starts making sports shoes in Herzogenaurach. In 1924 he founds the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory) together with his brother Rudolf. Adi Dassler is a keen athlete himself and designs his shoes specifically for the demands of individual disciplines.
adidas oder Bowflex: which brand suits you?
At isports you will find equipment from the US brand Bowflex as well as adidas. Both are aimed at people who train at home. But if you are looking for a versatile, future-proof home gym, adidas is the better choice in most cases.
adidas has stood for elite sport since 1949, and this experience is built into its fitness equipment. When it comes to treadmills, adidas offers a range that few other brands can match. It extends from compact, foldable models for small flats to the Ultra T-800 with up to 40 % incline for intensive hill training. The range also includes exercise bikes, sprinter bikes, an elliptical trainer, a cable-pulley home gym and weight benches. Another advantage is open app connectivity: besides the adidas Console+ app, you can train with Zwift and Kinomap. So you are not tied to a single platform or subscription.
Bowflex has a different focus. The brand comes from the USA and, following insolvency proceedings, has belonged to the fitness group Johnson Health Tech since 2024. Bowflex is best known for specialised equipment such as the Max Trainer and its adjustable SelectTech dumbbells. Treadmills play only a minor role, and for digital training Bowflex relies on its own JRNY platform.
In short: if you are looking for a treadmill or a bike with plenty of choice and open app connectivity, adidas is the obvious choice.
