Exercise Bikes for Home: Simple, Joint-Friendly Training

An exercise bike is the easiest way to start endurance training at home. At isports you will find simple upright exercise bikes from Tunturi, Reebok and adidas. They are easy to use, take up little space and are ideal for beginners, for rehabilitation and for seniors. If you also want to control your training by watts and heart rate, take a look at the upright ergometers or the full Exercise Bikes & Ergometers overview. You can test-ride many models in our showroom in Lupfig.

Exercise bikes for beginners: an easy start

A good entry-level exercise bike stands out above all for its simple operation. You get on, choose a resistance level and start, with no complicated settings. A padded seat, an adjustable handlebar and transport wheels provide comfort and make the bike easy to move. This way, getting started works even without any training experience, for example with 10 to 15 minutes a day. Solid upright exercise bikes are available from around CHF 569, while comfortable models with more programmes cost about CHF 700 to 900.

Space-saving training

Thanks to their compact design and transport wheels, upright exercise bikes fit even in smaller flats. After your workout, simply push the machine into a corner or against the wall. If you have little floor space, also look for a low weight and a narrow footprint.

More choice and advice

Air bikes: intense full-body training

An air bike, also called a fan bike, generates resistance through a large fan wheel: the harder you pedal and pull on the moving arm handles, the higher the resistance. There is virtually no upper limit, and you train arms and legs at the same time. That makes air bikes the first choice for high-intensity interval training (HIIT), functional fitness and competition preparation, for example for Hyrox. At isports you will find, among others, the Hyrox Perform Air Bike and the Schwinn Airdyne. If you are looking for a classic cycling feel rather than maximum intensity, an ergometer or a sprinter bike is a better fit.

Frequently asked questions about exercise bikes

How often and how long should you train on an exercise bike?

For beginners, three times a week for 20 to 30 minutes is ideal, which is more effective than rarely but for a long time. As a rule of thumb: you should still be able to hold a conversation during your workout.

Can you lose weight with an exercise bike?

Yes. Regular training on an exercise bike burns calories and, combined with a balanced diet, supports weight loss. The key factors are consistency and an appropriate intensity.
